I love heartland so so much. I have been going here since I moved to lawerence in 2018, and I have felt super taken care of to this day. Espeically when I heard I could get gender affirming care, already with my PCP, Lisa Russel? Super great. felt well taken care of by front desk staff, PCP, and nurses.
I received a phone call literally an hour before my appointment in September that my doctor was out of the office, so they had to cancel my appointment; even though I waited 3 months prior. Now, I have to wait until December to come in and get back on important medications.
Once youre there, the service is great, the problem is you can never get a hold of anybody. This is the second or third time that Ive needed to talk to the doctor or a nurse and they do not call you back. I had an MRI last Friday. The results were sent over by another doctor to Heartland on Friday at 10:21 AM. As of today Tuesday they still have not been read by my physician. Im in pain I have a torn meniscus and I need, something done. But I cant get a hold of anybody to see if theyll read my MRI or make me an appointment for something else. Its just unacceptable. Ive left about 4 to 5 messages for Dr. Mueller to please get back with me but nothing. It might be time to switch doctors.. OK this is Wednesday now and someone finally answered the phone five days after my MRI. They said my doctor is still on vacation. Of course he was on vacation two weeks ago so I dont know whats going on. Or why they couldnt call me back and tell me that. So theyre giving it to some other physician thats supposed to be calling me. Well see see what happens. In the meantime, Im still in pain with a torn meniscus.
Not only did the Doctor not evaluate me correctly she missed a Major diagnosis of Cervical cancer and told me I was going threw Menopause. I had every symptom of Cancer and it took me getting a Second Opinion to find it.
Im a first time patient here and Im quite surprised by the negative reviews on this page, Im very happy with how kind and sociable the staffing company was during the check in process and through the appointment itself. Very respectful of preferred pronouns and gender identity as well. They went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and accepted. Looking forward to my next visit!
I’ve been seeing Lisa Russell for a little over a year now and have been absolutely blown away by her amazing quality of care. Since she’s currently on maternity leave, I had to see Rosie the other day for a routine medication appointment for my adhd and left feeling extremely uncomfortable and upset. I couldn’t help but feel like she treated me like a drug seeker and even drug tested me “to make sure my medication showed up in my system” as if she thought I was selling my meds. She then asked if I had a job and why I take my medication everyday, as if I don’t really need the medication to manage my daily symptoms of adhd. The whole interaction with her left a bad taste in my mouth and was so disheartening that a provider thinks it’s ok to treat patients like that and question their treatment plan that is in place by another provider and that has proven to be successful for quite some time. I cannot wait for Lisa to return so I can go back to being treated with dignity and genuine care again.
Had to get a physical for the first time in years. i was really nervous, but everyone was so friendly, the receptionist, the nurse, the doctor. all were extremely kind and welcoming.
I wish I could come up with a better way to describe my experience than “absolutely incredible” but I cannot currently think of it. Front to back, just a truly, genuinely amazing group of people. Walking in, the waiting/reception area is spacious and the desk is very friendly and helpful with paperwork and explanation. After heading back to a room with Em, the nurse, she was so genuinely kind, I’m pretty sure I forgot I was at a doctors office! But truly comforting, very thorough on getting quality information for the doctor without ever feeling anything but welcomed. When I had the opportunity to meet Rosie, the doctor, she took genuine interest in my history, where I am currently, the goals I want to accomplish with my health and gave me all the time I needed to explain it. She is very professional, proactive and after knowing her for about 30 seconds I felt I could tell her anything without feeling embarrassed or anxious. She is just incredibly kind and truly cares about the well being of her patients. I feel blessed to get to know this team. They are the absolute pinnacle of everything great in this profession, genuine in their care and just a great attitude as a whole. I appreciate you all more than I can express!Sincerely, thank you.
Terrible experience. Not only did it take leaving multiple voicemails to the appointment line to get a call back, but Im now being charged $295.00 for a first time visit because I dont meet the income requirements for the sliding scale, despite being uninsured at the time of service. When inquiring with multiple departments about the cut off for the sliding scale, I was told theyd forward my info along to someone else to answer. I still havent gotten an answer nor a call back. Not to mention, my experience with the nurse I saw was terrible and humiliating. Absolutely insane the hoops Ive had to jump through for basic information that should be readily available.
They charge by your gross which makes no sense. Two person income being 40k and they want to charge you full price. This place was supposed to bring hope by being on a sliding scale, not destroy it.Edit: The front lady said we made $1250 weekly gross, which cant be true. Take home is 40k net, wed have to make 65,000 a year to gross 1250 weekly. But thanks for crushing hope.
I dont know how many stars to give this place. I really dont know what the purpose of this place is. I thought it was to be cost effective health care for the uninsured, but whenever I call with an issue they wont see me for 3-4 months, even though Ive been here before (most recent call was today, 11/14/23). So am I just supposed to walk around with this issue for 3 months? Since thats not possible (ex: sit on a UTI for 3 months? Itll just turn to a kidney infection. Or when I had constant headaches, what if it had been a tumor? Or when I needed to get tests done to keep going to school. I would have been kicked out if I waited that long) I end up just going elsewhere and paying money I dont have right now.The one time I went there it, summer 22, was because I had too much cerumen and could no longer hear out of my right ear. I spent 3-4 month leaning on my left ear and THEY told me I wont have to wait as long next time. Not true.
Went to the dentist here about a year ago for a tooth infection. They pulled a tooth. Come to find out after seeing a new dentist, they pulled the wrong tooth. They pulled a perfectly good tooth that was next to the infected tooth. So they did absolutely nothing for me besides pull a healthy tooth. Im still extremely upset about this.
Ive been seeing Dr. Mueller for a better part of 5 years. Ive never in my life have came across a Dr that listens, gives advice, and lets me make decisions under his care. Ive been going through some things currently in my life, and he is extremely helpful and does above and beyond to make sure I have the care I need. I cant express how thankful I am to him for getting me back on track with not only my overall health, my gyno needs, and my mental health. He is all around the best Dr. I have ever had. His nurse Christina M., dont get me started. By far one of the most sweetest person I know, and will give me advice to help take care of myself. She explains vitals, and communicates with Dr. Mueller in detail what hurts, and what my needs are. I cant express how much she does for me, actually both of them. I am thankful I came to HCHC for my health/mental health care. Definitely love this office, and has been my main reason for not leaving the Lawrence Area.
Absolutely without a doubt the worst Dentist office in Lawrence. Every appointment is 3-4 months out, When you go in for a cleaning they literally just grind all the enamel off your teeth and leave your teeth untreated. When the Dentist was grinding my teeth down she wasnt even looking at me, just kept staring at the clock. This place DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR CHILDREN! All they care about is how much money can they make off you and your insurance company.
My family has been patients here for several years. Heartland is fantastic!
I had a really nasty experience with one of the patient specialist. Instead of explaining the process in a helpful manner she was really nasty and turned me away from ever wanting my family to go here. It’s really unfortunate that this establishment is supposed to help families in their times of struggle and we’re met with this behavior. Do better.
I was a little concerned when Douglas County Dental merged with Heartland. I will say that Ive always been treated with respect at the front desk and the dental team. Dr. Bell is an amazing dentist who really put me at ease, very patient with questions/concerns. I know that the patient load far exceeds the dentists able to help, and I hope this is an issue that is looked into seriously. I have to wait until Sept to have another filling replaced, and I cant help but to feel frustrated at the delay. In that regard, the community deserves better. Its the only reason Im giving 4 stars as opposed to 5.
Showed up for scheduled dentist appointment for my 7 year old son with a tooth ache at 7:45am but it doesn’t open until 8am. Doors were closed. We waited until they opened, they called us back and took x rays. After waiting about an hour for the dentist to come after the x-rays she came in and told me he needed fillings but couldn’t fit him in for the day. She recommended I either wait around the office from 9am-1pm and she would be able to squeeze him in between her other patients or I could schedule out. Obviously nobody is going to sit in a dentist office for 4 more hours after already being there for over an hour! Now we have to wait a few extra days for fillings with my son in pain. We spent an hour and a half at the dental clinic for what? X-rays that took 5 minutes, and a diagnosis that took 2 minutes. Sad.
For family planning services (pregnancy tests, birth control), when calling for an appointment, be sure to say you want a Family Planning appointment within the week...to avoid a long delay for a regular new patient intake appointment.
If they ask you to show up for a sit in appointment run!!! Its been 3+ hours and still havnt been seen its degrading and the wait is unbearable.. they shouldnt even be able to charge insurance when you have to camp out a full day to get seen.
It’s cheap but you’ll never know anything about what’s happening. They’ll schedule appointments and not tell you when they do, tell you something is quick and easy then you find out there’s ten more steps that take months to complete. Getting anyone to meaningfully communicate with you is like pulling teeth. There’s seemingly no one to talk to about that either
Unprofessional that black lady at the front desk rude mind, mind, mind please make an appointment before your visit they very mind when u dont have one!@
Health concerns were overlooked and my opinion was not heard. I would rate 0 stars if I could
Health Equity is a farce here. I know of misgendered patients happening here, as well as pushing scripts on people who are interested in (valid) lifestyle changes instead. No one who values their mental health and can be categorized as LGBTQIA+ should seek care with them. I would leave no stars, were it possible.
I had the best experience here at Heartland! My nurse Jazmine was super sweet and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend her. My doctor was Rosie and she was very kind and knowledgeable! I will definitely be coming back because of the staff!
I have sat in the chair after a cleaning for 45 minutes waiting for a dentist to come check my teeth. They closed for a snow storm and did not call early appt patients to make aware. Even after confirming the day before. They said they would reach out for reschedule. Never did.I had a dentist appt the day of a giant snow storm. There was a weather advisory but the staff double confirmed the day before. I did not answer but obviously, if they are confirming a second time the day before, Im coming in because I wont get an appt for 3-4 months if I reschedule. Then I am at risk of needing to come in twice to get a check and a cleaning.I drove through the snow storm and almost wrecked a couple of times. I pulled in just barely in time for my 7:45 appt and they were closed. I received a text at 8:30 notifying me they were closed for the day.I understand they are serving an underserved community but surely you can do better.
Stating it may be 24-48 hrs to get a return call or email on the answering machine doesnt make it justified and acceptable. Doesnt feel like my charts get acknowledged and because of the lack of know it equals a lack of attention and taking on absurd amount of patients with making 4 days a work week has amplified the lack of care some go thru more than others. If Ive never felt cared about theyve certainly helped solidify that feeling of youre on your own until we have time and remember that you reached out sharing your mental health decline. My caregiver is great and really listens. That said I dont think she necessarily knows what is needed sometimes because those there for that arent informing her in a timely manner.
Theyre nice but not very convenient or accessible service. They pushed me out two weeks as a new client for a pretty serious skin condition. A walk in clinic should be just that, you walk in and your seen during those time frames. Maybe when I become an established patient things will get better but I dont have that kind of time. Very inconvenient setup for new clientele. Liked healthcare access better on how they did things.
The doctors and nurses coerced me by giving me an ultimatum after being there at the office for over an hour after explaining my concerns in detail. They made attempts to refuse to let me refill my medication seeing an MD. Yet, when my doctor left the practice they didnt replace the service taken with a new one. They dont assign new doctors after one has resigned. They attempted to make me see two doctors in one day. I was supposed to originally see a particular doctor and they changed the doctor on me after waiting in the lobby for a long time. It took them a hour after my appointment time to come to speak to me. I even went up to ask the receptionist what was going on several times. They (the nursing staff) claimed that they were accomodating my needs while remaining condescending and by giving me an ultimatum. They told me it is my choice to see the second doctor ( which would have involved me sitting there another 2 hours and it was blatantly forced on me) even though the decision was made by the doctor(the original doctor that I was supposed to see). He(the first doctor) practically gave me an ultimatum by having the take it or leave effect and being condescending by not accommodating my needs. Even though there were no alternate choices given, the doctor(the second doctor) also claimed that i was given a choice. This all happened as I was experiencing anxiety, also it was the reason why I was there. I believe this was an act of malice and discrimination. They knew my situation about my doctor resigning and still didnt give me a refill. I believe that they just wanted to waste my insurance money and delay my need of getting my anxiety meds refilled. Also since I am a poc (black) they feel the need to try and dismiss my concerns just to be jerks. I would give 0 stars if the option was available. Bad health services............Also, I noticed that the so-called owner of heartland only replies to good reviews and ignores responding to the bad reviews. This does not look good on their part. They obviously dont care enough to respond to concerns when real problems occur. It appears that they dont care about the injustices that occur within their facility and it shows.
Says they will call to schedule an appointment then never do. Then when you call them the receptionist gets an attitude you didnt want long enough. Whats the appropriate amount of time? A month? Because its been 3 weeks and still no call.
I go here for HRT and therapy and primary care and I’ve never had an issue; everyone is very friendly to me and on a few rare occasions they’ve been able to see me sooner than anticipated when needed. This is a very valuable resource to a lot of people who live here.
Wow I am simply blown away by my experience today. From the moment I arrived the reception staff was pleasant and professional. My wait time was more than reasonable consider current protocols and Covid reality. I highly recommend considering Heartland for obviously dental health treatment and must imagine the other services maintain the high standard of care and treatment. So elated to find such a wonderful resource here in LFK. Id like to specifically mention Erin and Dr. Bell as they made me feel extremely comfortable and if I am honest like a VIP. In this trying times this is a highlight to start 2022 with a trajectory towards a better brighter future. All of this from a trip to the dentist is not expected and is a clear demonstration that behind the fog of complacency this is still the golden age! Love and Light
Heartland is a good place to go if you have a cold or need a check up, or if youre struggling financially, though Ive been having many problems trying to get my prescription refilled recently. Theyve been having me call the nurse I see to get my refill, but I dont really know when the nurse works. I shouldve remembered the 3-digit extension, trying to get through the answering machine is a very long and somewhat confusing process. I used to get written paper prescriptions, which were easier because I could just give them to my pharmacy and theyd refill it. When trying to call it in, I dont really know if I get the refill or not, sometimes I realized I dont have a refill even after calling it in, and Ive ran out of my medicine, sometimes for a couple days sometimes for a week. The answering machine also has this message where it says If youre calling about a prescription refill, please contact your pharmacy and your pharmacy will contact us. This always confuses me because when I do that, my pharmacy says that Im out of refills and that I need to get a new prescription written. Im guessing refill and prescription are different things? I dont know, I wish they could give me multiple refills, but they wont because I dont take my medicine every day, and they dont want me to sell it or abuse it, which I dont, I see why they do it, its just such a big inconvenience, I dont like taking my medicine on my days off, it saves money and I just dont really need to.Im kind of thinking of moving to a place where this whole process is easier, if possible. Make the answering machine less grueling and be more clear about things if you want people to call in their prescriptions.I will say that they did help me when I had compacted earwax. And they have accommodations for people who cant afford the co-pay.
We are fortunate to have these guys services offered to us. The staff is kind and profressional and seem to care about their patients. I wouldnt be here if not for the skilful care I recieved.
I’ve been waiting days for some lab results. Just find out today, after worrying all weekend that I now have to wait longer bc my doctor doesn’t work on Mondays. So unprofessional.
The dumbest thing Ive seen yet! 🫢🙄
I have a lifelong fear of dentists. The nurse and doctor recognized this fear right away, and did a very good job of making me feel much more comfortable and helped me alot with getting through my tooth extraction. I still feel traumatized, but they made it also not that bad.
I have gone to Heartland clinic when it was by river bridge off 7th street cross the railroad tracks .... Even then it offered great doctors and care. Not just for the poor but for all!. These people are well dedicated and educated with care and compassion with honesty and truth to each patient... That makes them priceless. I am proud to get help there when I must.... God bless Lisa Russell. And many more who care for us.
Heartland is the best! Front desk kind and accommodating...Ive never had a problem getting an appt, and walking in, have been seen quickly!Theyve helped with chronic conditions, emergency situations, and routine elective procedures...with or without insurance...The Drs are great, open, and compassionate...the nurses are second to none!Ive even used their dental services, and they were great, and very open about costs...I love the place, theyve been my care providers for 4 years, and will continue to be as long a Im in Lawrence!Thank you Heartland for doing your part keeping me alive and thriving!!!! ❤❤❤
Unpleasant place front dest ladys need to work on your attitude!( black lady she is mind)
Dr Strickland leaving was the downfall of this place. They’re hard to work with, rude, disorganized, and don’t care about patient care, and the nurse practitioner’s assistant yelled at me over the phone. They still haven’t called me to discuss anything with me and my appointment was a month ago. It’s ridiculous. I will say that the only current redeeming quality of this place is their DON. She was super helpful.
Only payed $40 to be evaluated for depression and anxiety, and within the hour was set up with a medical professional and a behavioral therapist who worked with me to get me just what I needed. They were incredibly accommodating and nice. It was all very straightforward.
They do not do tooth extraction although they have dentists. Also, they do not have ob/gyn services. I really dont understand why this community health clinic exist at all. They are unable to provide basic medical and dental needs to the community. Uninsured residents in their community need to go other areas (e.g. Kansas City) for treatments.
We love heartland. We started going there for our infant when we were in between insurances due to a job transfer, but we love our doctor enough that we kept going there now that we have our insurance. my husband, son and I also use the same physician so we have all our medical needs in one place. They are great about setting up the patients with other resources as well, such as Medicare, food pantry, dentistry, counseling and more (these are just the resources we have had access to with our family needs). The most important things to our family are that medical staff is excellent and the costs are transparent and reasonable, something that should be manatdory in our healthcare but is not. It is rare we get an unexpected bill from them and when we do they are thorough to explain the bill and work with us to understand where the miscommunication happened. They even covered the remainder of a floride rinse for my son when our insurance wouldn’t cover the entire bill. It is not an urgent care clinic but is a wonderful community health center/ family practice facility that our family can’t say enough good things about.
When I get to see Jolynne it’s ok. But to pick up every one of my prescriptions and have a note on there to make an appointment only to get an answering machine, is very upsetting. Then I finally get to speak with someone after 2 weeks of trying to find out Jolynne is going on vacation for two weeks!!! Which sucks because I have 15 days to get my FMLA recertified, which can be a hassle as well. I hate changing doctors once I’ve got used to one, but this is getting worse and worse. I thought it would get better when they merged with Healthcare Access.
Discriminated against for being POC. Nicole Delimont did not take medical concerns serious and I was misdiagnosed by her for more than a year. Came to the ER and they properly diagnosed me. I came back and Nicole Delimont left in Jaunuary. They did not put a doctor in her place after she left. I came there in Febuary and they did not assign me to anyone. Now they say that I have to wait longer to see someone to get back on medications. No accommodation and a lot of invalidation involved in conversation and in actions. If I could give 0 stars I would.
I do not trust the medical care from this facility. Hopefully this is uncommon and other patients feel respected and have their health concerns properly addressed, but that was not my experience.
I love heartland and all Nicole Delmonte has done for me but getting a answering machine every time is very frustrating. I have been trying to make a appointment for two weeks and get the machine every time. I dont want to leave a message I want to talk to a real person when I call!
Best Medical Clinic in Douglas County caring and devoted nurses and doctors I had ringing in the earsand discovered it was earwax build up. Now I dont have any ringing of the ears anymore Thanks to Heartland Clinic..
One of the reception staff was very rude and not compassionate considering the fact that Im very low income and disabled ie cannot pay for services. Other than that I think its a great place.
I love this place. My doctor listens to me and helps me to find the problem rather than just treat the symptoms all the time. I am beginning to feel normal again and I owe it all to her.
Quality staff. They answered all my questions and I had a lot. I dont like going to the doctor and they were great. Great experience!
Hard to get in to see physician and get refills. My Dr left with no warning or a letter..Dont like changes and now have to get use to another dr that dont know my health issues
Always a positive experience at this office!
Very clear place and polite staff,,,,would recommend this place in a second!!!!
I’m in terrible pain in joints and muscle pain with dark rash on top of my hands and feet with severe Anxiety and have not been able to sleep I feel really sick and I have a very uncomfortable swollen thorat and weakness in my joint and they didn’t even care even when they called the day after my appointment I told them I was in sever discomfort they ignored me. They took multiple tubes of my blood and it’s been going on 3 DAYS with no anwser and I’m really losing hope in them helping me find some relief for anything even when the systom are starting them right In their face it’s very upsetting know how long they would take to seek out a infection or something in my body And I know it takes time to get results for blood testing but shouldn’t they make sure I’m stable enough to take care of it at home or if I need to go to a ER cause ALL THESE SYMPTOMS ARE EFFECTING MY LIFE and that anit fair
There are never appointments to the dentist what a bad way to treat people who need your service
Heartland is a GREAT place! I trust their staff with my entire family when in need of medical care! Go to HEARTLAND for all your medical care needs! ❤️
Don’t recommend. Waited for so long and they were calling people that got there after me. And you wait inside for testing so even if you don’t have Covid you could get it while waiting.
They didnt even look at my MRI report, had to go to a real Dr to get something done!! Thanks for the month long pain and suffering I had to endure while you screwed me out of what money I didnt have!!!
I have been a long time patient of Dr. STRICKLAND. HE HAS DECIDED TO BEND TO POLITICAL VIEWS ABOUT PAIN MANAGEMENT. THOSE OF US WITH A CHRONIC PAIN THAT NEED MEDICATION TO MANAGE OUR LIVES NEED PAIN MEDS. THOSE OF US WHO HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO CEASE OUR PAIN INCLUDING PHYSICAL THERAPY, INJECTIONS, OVER THE COUNTER PAIN MEDS, RADIO ABOLITION ( BURNING THE NERVES) , SURGERIES, HAVE NO OTHER CHOICES. I HAVE EVEN SAID I MAY NEED TO PURCHASE PAIN MEDS OUT OF COUNTRY BUT HE JUST IGNORED ME. I HAVE TO TAKE 48 OVER THE COUNTER PAIN PILLS A DAY JUST TO FUNCTION SOMEWHAT. I BLEED INTERNALLY AND STILL HE PRESCRIBS MEDS TO COVER UP THE BLEEDING SYMPTOMS. SO NO DO NOT USE HEARTLAND HEALTH IF YOU HAVE ANY TRUE PROBLEMS. THEY ARE FINE FOR COMMON COLD OR FLU. ANYTHING ELSE THINK AGAIN. BY THE WAY I HAVE NOT PURCHASED ANY OUT OF COUNTRY DRUGS. JUST THAT DESPERATE TO THINK ABOUT IT.
Great service, the staff is friendly the service is great. I continue to use them even though I have insurance now.
Very impressed with Heartland Health. Dr Lisa Russell and her team are awesome!
They are the best that I got my doctor is great and awesome and I like it there
My wifes Dr., Dr. Mueller is an excellent Family practice physcian. Cudos Dr. Mueller.
Unsatisfactory care by inexperianced caregiver, clinic wont allow me to switch caregivers. Would not reccommend unless desperate.
When I need help I have always received it. I have had help with medical problems , food problems and medicines. Sometimes I have needed special help and have been given it.
New building but poor management, be ready to wait long hours. 5 peoples checked in after me and I still waiting. Very disappointed.
Poor customer service and difficult to schedule an appointment to see my doctor.
Always clean, friendly and helpful staff. must wear mask. Always in and out
Not helpful at all, came in for the ParaGard IUD and they were clueless about the ordering process and wouldn’t even answer their phone.
Awesome place with friendly people! Ashley was so nice and helpful!
Terrible answering service. There should be no voicemal. You should just be able to wait on the phone for someone.
The staff is simply awesome and they care about your health.
Was good place
So thankful Heartland exists! Not just healthcare for people without insurance but GREAT care for people without insurance.
Proficient, Professional, philanthropic....
