Natural Kid Doc

I found Natural Kid Doc after I fired a traditional pediatrician after the second visit when my son was a newborn. I have been with NKD for 7 years. We just saw Dr. Hanna yesterday as my son was sick. She is detailed and not rushed in her examination and asked my son several questions for him to answer. The recommendations were all aligned to how he has been raised-without drugs & prescriptions, just adding or subtracting certain foods and using homeopathic remedies and natural supplements.

Everyone at Natural Kid Doc is great. Weve been seeing Dr Smialek for the last 6 years and she is wonderful. Very thorough, kind, patient, and gives quality care, and attention to my kids. We recently started seeing Dr Hanna and had a great experience with her as well. She is thorough, dedicated, knowledgeable, and I feel very well taken care of at Natural Kid Doc.

We love Dr. Smialek at Natural Kid Doc. She spends quality time with us as parents and our child, cares about setting patients up for success and takes a team approach. She helps to educate you, so you feel empowered to make the right decision for your child. This is exactly the type of pediatrician relationship we wanted for our baby!

I love that I finally found a doctor that will not rush me out the door because they have dozens of patients waiting. Dr. Dirkmaat was kind, professional and knowledgeable. I feel less stressed knowing my daughter has a doctor who I feel like I can trust. Not every doctor is willing to see patients who are not planning on getting vaccinated. I’m happy this office respects my family’s wishes and does not try and push it on us but instead understands where we are coming from. I felt confident knowing I have a place to go if/when my daughter does get sick. Thank you for a wonderful initial consultation.

Highly recommend! We’ve seen Dr Dirkmaat and Reed, and both are wonderful, kind, and patient. They truly set the standard for what a child’s doctor should be (and the office itself is warm and inviting with lots of toys to keep little ones occupied).

Had my first appointment with Dr. Reed, and it went so well. She listened to my concerns, offered me great advice, provided me with wonderful information to ensure my baby is as healthy as can be, and made me feel heard. Dr. Reed values and respects parents to make decisions for their kids while providing as much information as possible for help with those decisions. She also recommended several books and health professionals to help us on our journey. Truly a great place for kids and parents alike!

This was our first time at Natural Kid Doc and we couldn’t have been more pleased. With the cleanliness of the practice, the friendly staff and meeting Dr Smialek. She was absolutely wonderful and made us feel so comfortable as first time parents. She listened to us and our concerns and addressed everything we needed. I cannot say good enough things about our experience.

My wife and I took our newborn daughter in and had her new patient / newborn wellness check with Dr. Smialek. We spent a full hour discussing my wifes pregnancy, labor, and babys health. This was the first doctor I have been to that took so much time and care for an appointment. The office was very comfortable and clean. My wife was also happy there was a designated room for breastfeeding. My wife and I were very happy to find this practice and feel great about bringing our daughter here. What a good fit for our family.

We had a wonderful experience at natural kid doc. Dr. Dirkmaat made us feel welcomed and comfortable. She is very knowledgeable and took the time to answer any and all our questions. We liked the way she handled our child during the thorough exam.The office feels serene- inviting to any guest. I feel at peace knowing we found a place where we feel comfortable taking our child to for visits.

Dr. Smialek has been such a blessing for our family, teaching us the natural ways to take care of ourselves and our children. Every visit is thorough, over an hour with a peds doctor is unheard of, but that’s what you get at a well child visit. All questions are answered with options and notes to take home. We have been a patient for six years and will be until she ages out!

Dr. Smialek is a well-meaning and knowledgeable pediatrician, who takes her time with our daughter and us as first time parents during each visit. We’ve been so pleased with her in-depth visits and help via online messaging in between appointments. We are so, so relieved to have found her!

We LOVE Dr. Smialek! She is so gentle and supportive, and such a wonderful listener. I’ve never felt uncomfortable or judged in any of our appointments, and feel well equipped to care for our daughter. She is incredibly knowledgeable and quite obviously cares for her patients AND their caregivers. Their office is calm and cozy and overall very welcoming. They even have a quiet room for moms to nurse and change their babies! Would totally recommend to any families!

This office was an answer to my prayers! They are everything I hoped for in a pediatrician. After having our first son, my husband and I wanted to entrust our baby to a team that truly cares about children and educated parents to make the best decisions for their children. Dr. Amber Reed has an absolutely joyful and loving personality. She is super professional, knowledgable and excellent at explaining vaccines, treating symptoms naturally, and baby behaviors, giving me confidence in being his mother and making important health decisions for him. I recommend this office to any family who wants to be involved in their children’s health and grow closer as a family in the process!

Absolutely love Natural Kid Doc! They have a wealth of knowledge and take to time to really see my kids and talk about any questions I might have and how my kids are doing. It never feels rushed and I leave feeling heard and confident. I can’t recommend them enough!

We just had our first appt with Dr. Dirkmaat. After almost 12 years of pediatricians who “cookie cutter” us with every other kid, it was SUCH a relief meeting her. Her beliefs are very in line with ours. My daughter, who rarely speaks to anyone, felt comfortable to giggle and make jokes with her. It didn’t even feel like a doctors appt. I cannot even begin to say how amazing it is to not be faced with anxiety having to go see a doctor!

I could not recommend Dr. Smialek enough! She has been seeing my children since my son was born three and a half years ago and has been remarkably supportive, informative, and responsive anytime we visit her or reach out when I have a question. I have recommended Dr. Smialek to every friend of mine and even wish it was possible to be one of her clients myself. I hope our years of the absolute best experiences with her and her team shed light on how great this office is. Im happy to have the entire appointment one-on-one with her and our family to discuss anything Im concerned with, ask questions about anything that has come up or even just to dive deeper into my children’s future care and what I should start working on or seeing. Anytime Ive sent an email through our portal, she gets back to me with guidance. Dr. Smialek is incredibly kind and truly genuine, and also invested in us as clients. 10/10 recommend this office and will continue to!

We started going to Dr. Smialek when our son was 4 months old (he is now 3.5). We made the switch because we were disappointed at the lack of time and attention we were given during our visit to a traditional office. Having our first child we desired education on his health and how to keep him well and we got all that and more from Dr. Smialek.The longer scheduled visits allow us to discuss every aspect of our sons health and never feel rushed or pressured from Dr. Smialek. She offers so much useful knowledge and information which my husband and I are so grateful for. And most importantly she is wonderful with both our sons and makes sure they are happy and comfortable during each visit.

I found Natural Kid Doc nearly a year and half ago for our daughter (who was a year old at the time). We had not so great experience with other pediatricians. And sought out a Doctor who would help educate us on a more natural way of preventing sickness. Dr. Kiera Smialek is amazing! She has a genuine care for her patience and takes the time to really get to know the family. I feel like our daughter gets the care she deserves! Since then we have added a patient, our newborn son. And we are so thankful for the care he has received as well. Dr. Smialek listens to our concerns and does not pressure us. She gives you educated recommendations on ways to prevent sickness or illnesses. I am thankful to have found Natural Kid Doc and our children love it there.Side Note: services are not covered by insurance. Although the time spent with the doctor - I find the prices reasonable. We had experiences with pediatricians covered by insurance who gave my husband and me whip lash. In and out, no relationship building, pushing unnecessary services with co-pays that nearly reach the same cost. Also, with Natural Kid Doc we are currently trying to submit our bills to insurance as out-of-network appointments. Just as the front office for a specific bill. And they currently have multiple children/patient discounts.

Dr. Reed is AMAZING!!! After searching for answers regarding some concerns with my daughter, we finally found the perfect doctor, Dr. Reed. She is so patient, kind and knowledgeable. The family feels at peace under her care and know that she has my children’s best interest at heart. We’re already seeing improvements of my daughter’s health after a few months of seeing Dr. Reed. This doctor’s office was the answer to our prayers. Amazing facility. Highly recommend this place.

I have been taking my 2.5 year old son to see Dr. Smialek since his initial newborn appointment. He hates getting check ups, but she always does so well with him, even while he is throwing a fit. We never feel rushed at our appointments, and she always addresses all of our concerns. She is never pushy about vaccines and has some great resources for those who want to do some extra research on each one that they receive over those first couple years. She is respectful of all of your choices, whether you want to fully vaccinate, vaccinate on a delayed schedule, or not vaccinate at all. Our old insurance company used to reimburse us for our visits, but once we switched insurance companies we were no longer able to do that. We still continued to see Dr. Smialek because we liked her so much. Definitely worth it!!

Love the care we receive here! My kids look forward to going to the Doctor, and that means a lot to me!

I’m not one to write reviews, however seeing someone else leave a one star review prompted me to share my experience because it is vastly different. I am by no means discrediting the other patient’s experience.We have found Dr. Smialek to be extremely knowledgeable. We have seen her for sick visits as well as wellness checks and each time we leave feeling informed. We went to a traditional pediatrician prior to finding Natural Kid Doc and we felt very much like a number. Dr. Smialek takes the TIME to treat our SON. We’ve found our visits to be informative and worth our time and money.

I am so appreciative of this clinic. I had pretty much given up on my gut feeling that my body was not quite right and after a friend suggested reaching out to Natural Kid Doc and finally feel heard and have started on the right direction for my health. ALSO everyone I have met there is so kind!

Our whole family trusts Dr. Reed. She takes the time to listen and research options for our sons supplements as his sensory issues present a challenge. We feel hes well taken care of here

Wow - I cannot say enough wonderful things about Natural Kid Doc. You really feel like your kids are in good hands here and getting complete care and attention. We see Dr. Smialek, but have also seen Dr. Reed and received the best care from both of them.

STAY AWAY! I see an naturopathic doctor who referred me to Natural Kid Doc for my 13yo daughter. Natural Kid Docs does not accept insurance and its rates are just as high as my naturopathic doctor (who also does not accept insurance). So, I expected the same caliber of service. NOT AT ALL. The exam and blood work done was $569. We met with Amber Reed. Shes referred to on the website as Dr., but she IS NOT A MEDICAL DOCTOR. I did not realize this when I was paying rates comparable to a medical doctor. The follow up regarding the blood test was 15 minutes on the phone and another $105. WHAT??? How is that not included in the $569 I already paid??? I learned more about my daughters blood test from the information MY doctor had previously provided about my blood tests, than from Dr Reed. Its a huge waste of money. I was pleased with the amount of time Dr Reed spent with us, her conversation was engaging, but her lack of medical knowledge is obvious. I was paying for the medical knowledge and was beyond disappointed. You would be better served having your pediatrician run blood work and researching the results yourself.

Dr. Molly Santosuosso is fantastic if you are looking for a womens health Naturopath MD! Ive been seeing her for 5 months and achieved all my health/healing goals I came to her with. She is very thorough, knowledgeable, and covers every aspect of your well-being focusing on natural remedies/ supplementation first and foremost. Definitely recommend!

So we found Natural Kid Doc as an alternative to going to a traditional western medicine doc because we felt like they would be more in line with what our goals were for our daughter. Our daughter is very healthy but does have some issues with belly/gas at nights (only) and we saw Dr. Smialak for this issue and have been there for a couple wellness checks, however we dont believe we should have to go up regularly for checks when our daughter is otherwise healthy. When we saw her she told us to try one thing and then the next time we went, to try something else. We did those to no progress. After contacting them again, it took them 3 days to respond and only said well you havent been in, in a while you should come in for a wellness check ... no offer of alternative help. And in our efforts to get some help, it took several days in the middle of responses...We were told to contact through email, which we did, but then after trying to reach them we were told not to email because its not the fastest way. We were then told that a wellness check appointment would be a month out and that they needed to see her, for the SAME issue we have had for about 8 months. When I got upset that it was clear they were MORE CONCERNED with collecting wellness check payments than actually helping our daughter I got frustrated and told them that its exactly what it seemed like they were doing......their response? They sent us a letter saying they will NOT SEE US ANYMORE. This is what you get....clearly they are only interested in helping if you pay them the $100-$150 wellness checks regularly. Doctors are for SICK patients not to give a height and weight. We didnt want to go to a normal doctor because we wanted to avoid the traditional way American medicine is done...yet it clearly makes no difference here because unless you continually pay, they wont help with issues that are ongoing without going back, paying them again. Not sure how that is showing care for a baby....ITS A BABY and they took their sweet time responding and only concerned for their $100 payment.....again, SAME ISSUE EVERY TIME that they did not give any options that helped...yet they wanted to keep coming back to keep paying for more advice on the same issue.

Spoke to them several times over the phone and even have email proof that said that they would take my newborns within the first seven days of them being born and they would not set an appointment any sooner than them being born although I had a scheduled C-section. I called once they’re born and now they can’t take them for seven weeks the front office ladies to complete Jerk. and does not understand that that’s not how life works with newborns.

Weve been coming here since my son was 3 days old and Kiera and Amber have been nothing but amazing. We recieve quality care and guidance - to the point where we still see them even though we live 2 hours away now.Instead of throwing tantrums about the cost - as im seeing in other reviews......... we understand fully what it is to NOT have insurance. We own a business. Its more feasible to pay for services out of pocket as needed than to pay for insurance. The cost of the services for Natural Kid Doc are comparable and reasonable. They dont badger you for wellness checks and ... yeah. Sorry. If youre not paying, you dont get to continue services. Thats how independent business works. If we dont get paid by our clients, we dont continue to work until we are paid up. So, from a family that understand what naturopathic care is, what the cost is expected to be, and from people who are careful where we spend our money and time.... I love Natural Kid Doc and we will continue to traveling from Northern Arizona to Scottsdale in order to recieve top quality care for our children.
